...For the meantime: It seems to help to enter <wherever>/amber11
and then to "cvs update" the subdirectories individually.
So:
"cvs update amber 11" doesn't work,
but
"cd amber11 ; cvs update benchmarks ; cvs update dat; ..."
did work for me (probably cvs needs less temporary disk space this way (?)).
...Just as a hint if anyone else has this problem.
Maybe "cd amber11 ; cvs update benchmarks Changelog_at dat ..."
would work too, but I didn't try.
