Please keep trying. I'm hoping to limp on a few more weeks with loyd
until we transfer the cvs home to someplace at Rutgers. In the past,
this has been an intermitent problem, maybe happening when more than one
person tried to access CVS at a time.

If anyone knows the proper way to open CVS to only certain users,
without setting up accounts on the host CVS machine, please let me know.
I don't think we will be able to replicate the system we have now at
Rutgers, because they keep tighter security.
