Hi,
Ubuntu 14 upgrades to texinfo-5.x from texinfo-4.13. This is a significant
update, as some syntax that is valid with texinfo-4 is now unsupported.
Try downgrading to texinfo-4.13: sudo apt-get install texinfo=4.13.
Then try recompiling.
