Sorry... I should've clarified. these were just notes that I had in my email folder around while testing the CVS version on Mar 23 2010.

Probably the main point to take away from my messege is that I ran across the same "mangled strings" problems as Andreas using F12 x86_64 using both gcc 4.4.2 and 4.4.3; however all nab tests passed with opensuse (gcc 4.4.0)... so unless there was a gcc bug introduced in 4.4.1, then I'd suspect it has something to do with the F12 distribution.
