Hugely embarrassing, but disregard last message... it seems that the
attached program will work, despite differences in the MPI handles, when I
remove the glaring bug when posting the 2 -> 0 message. But it seemed to
be reproducing my problem with mdgx, so I can hopefully now zero in on it.
