I was able to use LAM to compile before Oct.19. After that it seems pnetcdf or configuration script has been updated and causes compiling failure. Your message makes me feel better for I have been struggling to compile a parallel version with LAM. I will try openmpi.

Thanks!

Note: I have never been able to get LAM to work with Amber11 (fails in
making pnetcdf). Your mileage may vary. In amber11/src, type
"./configure_openmpi -help" for information on how use openmpi. Others
have reported success with mpich and mpich2.
