I fully agree. Non-automatic LUNs are inconvenient, to put it mildly
(as well as many other things that fortran enforces). It may be difficult
to convert existing code to the new "auto_lun_amopen()", but newer
code can be written to use "atomatic LUNs" approach restricted to LUNs
values not used by the old code (>77?).
