Ah but if you want more of a laugh it seems that the people in charge of
writing this RFP (who shall remain nameless) were under the impression that
no changes to NAMD would be required in order to successfully run this
calculation in 25 hours on a petascale machine and they were shocked to be
told otherwise. Add to this the fact that this will be an acceptance
criteria for the machine and that the details in the proposal cannot be
changed (e.g. use something other than NAMD) and it gets even more
hilarious...
Also include the fact they think that you can build this system and just hot
start it at 300K and it will work... :'(
Oh and that things like the pdb spec will need to be changed and the method
for creating the input file will need to be changed etc etc etc...
Does anybody fancy putting their money where there mouth is and building a
machine that will run the simulation as specified in 25 hours using the
current version of NAMD...
